"Azadeh hat eine fantastische Technik. Aber sie hat auch diese Wahrhaftigkeit und Schönheit des Tons, die zeigt, was wirklich in der Musik steckt. So etwas ist sehr selten; nicht nur für einen jungen Menschen, sondern für jeden Musiker." Diese überschwänglichen Worte stammen von keinem geringeren als Nigel Kennedy. Mit 15 Jahren spielte Azadeh Maghsoodi mit dem Star- Geiger Bachs Doppelkonzert beim Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival und fand über Nacht internationale Beachtung.
Vorangegangen war dieser Erfolgsgeschichte eine intensive Ausbildung bei Prof. Maria Egelhof (Musikhochschule Lübeck), Prof. David Takeno (Guildhall School of Music and Drama London) und die Teilnahme an Internationalen Meisterkursen u.a. bei Zakhar Bron, Thomas Brandis, Nora Chastain, Baiba Skride, Pavel Vernikov, Igor Ozim und Didier Lockwood.
Azadeh Maghsoodi ist Preisträgerin Internationaler Wettbewerbe und gewann zweifach den NDR Kultur Preis. Sie gastierte u.a. beim Podium Festival Esslingen und Pòdium Matadepera, den Festspielen Mecklenburg Vorpommern und dem Oberstdorfer Musiksommer und konzertierte als Solistin u.a. mit der Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, der Norddeutschen Philharmonie Rostock und dem Polish Chamber Orchestra. Konzertreisen führten sie u.a. nach Amerika, Italien, Spanien, Belgien, Russland, Tschechien und ins Baltikum. Weitere Höhepunkte ihrer bisherigen musikalischen Karriere waren ihr Auftritt bei der "NoRuz Gala" im Metropolitan Museum of Art New York und eine Deutschlandtour als Duo-Partnerin an der Seite von Nigel Kennedy im Jahre 2010. Ihr aktuelles Projekt "MoonBach" mit Andis Paegle (Fender Rhodes, Orgel u.a.) verspricht eine fesselnde Fusion ausgewählter Kompositionen von Johann Sebastian Bach, persischer Melodien und "Dainas" (lettischer Volkslieder) als kulturelle Wurzeln der beiden Musiker, sowie Improvisationen in einer durch nahtlose Übergänge zwischen den Stücken gekennzeichnete Konzertform.
Im Wintersemester 23/24 ist sie als "Artist in Residence" Gastdozentin an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg.
Azadeh Maghsoodi war mehrfach im Rundfunk und Fernsehen zu erleben, so wie erst kürzlich bei der bekannten persischen TV Show „Chandshanbeh" mit Sina Valiollah und Shadi Asadollahi beim Sender MBC Persia in London. Dabei wurde ein Kindheitstraum wahr: Sie durfte auf einer Violine von Antonio Stradivari spielen. Dieses besondere Instrument wurde ihr von Florian Leonhard im Rahmen seiner Florian Leonhard Fellowship freundlicherweise zur Verfügung gestellt.
Als langjährige Stipendiatin der Deutschen Stiftung Musikleben spielte Azadeh Maghsoodi u.a. Instrumente von Joseph Gagliano (Neapel 1795), Lorenzo Ventapane (Neapel 1790) und Stefan-Peter Greiner (Bonn 1998). Derzeit spielt sie eine Violine von Jacob Veit Mueller (Berlin 2022).
Zusätzlich engagiert sich Azadeh Maghsoodi als politische Aktivistin für die Menschen im Iran, insbesondere für die revolutionäre feministische "Jin Jiyan Azadî" (Woman Life Freedom)- Bewegung. Sie macht auf ihrem Instagram-Account auf die Situation aufmerksam und zeigt sich u.a. auf Demonstrationen und Benefizveranstaltungen präsent.

These exuberant words come from none other than Nigel Kennedy. At the age of
15, Azadeh Maghsoodi played Bach's Double Concerto with the star violinist at the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival and gained international attention overnight.
This success story was preceded by intensive studies with Prof. Maria Egelhof (Academy of
Music Lübeck), Prof. David Takeno (Guildhall School of Music and Drama London) and participation in international master classes with Zakhar Bron, Thomas Brandis, Nora Chastain, Baiba Skride, Pavel
Vernikov, Igor Ozim and Didier Lockwood, among others.
Azadeh Maghsoodi is a prize-winner of international competitions and has
twice won the NDR Kultur Preis. She has given guest performances at the Podium Festival Esslingen and Pòdium Matadepera, the Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern and the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, among
others, and has performed as a soloist with the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock and the Polish Chamber Orchestra. Concert tours have taken her to America, Italy,
Spain, Belgium, Russia, the Czech Republic and the Baltic States. Further highlights of her musical career so far were her appearance at the "NoRuz Gala" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York
and a tour of Germany as a duo partner alongside Nigel Kennedy in 2010. Her current project "MoonBach" with Andis Paegle (Fender Rhodes, organ a. o.) promises to be a captivating fusion of selected
compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Persian melodies and "Dainas" (Latvian folk songs) as cultural roots of both musicians, as well as improvisations in a concert form characterized by seamless
transitions between pieces.
In the upcoming winter semester 23/24 she is a guest lecturer at Leuphana
University Lüneburg as the "Artist in Residence".
Azadeh Maghsoodi has appeared several times on radio and television, as
recently on the famous Persian TV show "Chandshanbeh ba Sina Valiollah" on MBC London. A childhood dream came true: she was allowed to play on a violin by Antonio Stradivari. This special instrument
was kindly made available to her by the world- renowned violin maker Florian Leonhard as part of his "Florian Leonhard Fellowship". A long-time fellow of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Azadeh
Maghsoodi has played instruments by Joseph Gagliano (Naples 1795), Lorenzo Ventapane (Naples 1790) and Stefan-Peter Greiner (Bonn 1998), among others. Currently she plays a violin by Jacob Veit
Mueller (Berlin 2022).
As an German-Iranian, Azadeh Maghsoodi is also a political activist for the Iranian women, especially for the revolutionary feministic "Jin Jiyan Azadi" (Woman Life Freedom) movement. She draws attention to the situation in Iran on her Instagram account and shows her presence at demonstrations and charity events.
